An authorized probation search by Watertown Police Officers and Detectives resulted in
the arrest of a Watertown man Thursday morning. John E. West III, was arrested for
possession of a controlled substance and Manufacture of a Controlled Substance after
officers discovered components used to manufacture methamphetamine both inside the
residence and behind a small shed in the backyard. The outdoor lab was dismantled
safely by Detectives and Agents of the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
West was currently out on bond for a previous methamphetamine charge.
His bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety and remains in custody at the Codington
County Jail.
