[ARCHIVED] Motorcycle Injury Accident-UPDATE

July 6th, 2015-UPDATE: Names of injured motorcycle driver/passenger being released.

Mr. Richard Lueck (Watertown, SD) and Mr. Ronald Gavert (Chanhassen, MN) are the two occupants of the motorcycle that were injured as a result of a car vs. motorcycle crash on July 5th, 2015. Both individuals are being treated for serious non- life threatening injuries.

The Watertown Police Department is currently investigating a motorcycle crash that sent two people to Prairie Lakes Hospital on Sunday afternoon. At 12:07pm police were advised that a motorcycle and a passenger car had collided at the intersection of 26th Street and 9th Avenue SE. (Hwy 212)

Investigation showed that a 2000 Olds Alero, left the stop sign and was turning left onto 9th Avenue when it pulled into the path of the eastbound motorcycle.

The driver of the 2004 Harley Davidson Road Glide and his male passenger, whose identities are not being released at this time, were thrown from the bike and suffered undisclosed injuries. Both were transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital by Watertown Paramedics. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet at time of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, Matthew Paulson, 25 of Watertown, was cited for a Stop Sign Violation.

The investigation is ongoing by the Watertown Police Department. Watertown Police were assisted by the South Dakota Highway Patrol and Watertown Fire Rescue.
