[ARCHIVED] Over Here, Over There - June 2nd - 7pm - Watertown Regional Library Community Room

One hundred years ago the world was embroiled in a bloody conflict that would come to be known as World War One. After the U. S. entered the war in 1917, the war became a reality for people living in as isolated a place as rural South Dakota. The World War One era correspondence of the Private John Warns family from Wentworth, South Dakota provides a richly textured narrative of events on the Western Front in Europe, as well as on the home front in South Dakota.

Dr. Rich Lofthus of Mount Marty College will present "Over Here, Over There: The World War One Correspondence of the Private John Warns Family" at 7;00 PM at the Watertown Regional Library on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. This presentation will feature excerpts from the Warns family letters and photos of various family members and is sponsored by the South Dakota Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
