WFR responded to a vehicle fire in the attached garage of a home at 20 16th St SE today at 1:00 p.m. Crews found a car that had a fire in the engine compartment. The owner stated she went to start her car and it made a loud bang like a back fire and then smoke started coming from the engine. The garage and home received only smoke damage, however the car was a total loss. Crews were on scene for about an hour. No one was injured.

The owner reacted quickly by running to a neighbors house to call 911. Remember to have a safe evacuation plan for your home even if it is in the garage.
