[ARCHIVED] Fryer Fire Quickly Contained by Suppression System at Local Bar and Grill

Engine 4

At approximately 4pm today, Watertown Fire Rescue was dispatched to a report of a commercial kitchen fire at Shooters Bar and Grill , located at the corner of Maple St. and Kemp Ave.

Upon arrival, fire crews found that a fryer fire had already been extinguished by the restaurant's automatic fire suppression system.

The incident occurred in the kitchen area and was contained to the deep fryer unit. Thanks to the proper functioning of the hood suppression system, the fire was suppressed before it could spread to other parts of the building.

No injuries were reported, and all staff and patrons safely evacuated the premises prior to fire department arrival. Firefighters ensured the fire was fully extinguished, ventilated the structure, and conducted a thorough check for any possible fire extension or re-ignition.

Watertown Fire Rescue would like to remind all commercial kitchen operators to regularly inspect and maintain their fire suppression systems and ensure that staff are trained in emergency procedures.
