[ARCHIVED] Four Arrested Following Drug Investigation

Media Release 10-6-25 - Drug Arrest 1

On October 3, 2025, detectives with the Watertown Police Department conducted a narcotics investigation that led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of multiple controlled substances, cash, and drug paraphernalia.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers made contact with Dalton Dampier, Daniel Beck, Kadance Kretzschmar, and Nicholas Thiel in downtown Watertown.

Subsequent searches resulted in the seizure of approximately 22 grams of cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, amphetamine pills, and drug paraphernalia. At approximately 8:30 p.m., a related search warrant was executed at Beck’s residence in northwest Watertown.

All four individuals were arrested on various drug-related charges:

  • Dalton Dampier (31, Raymond, SD): Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Resisting Arrest.
  • Daniel Beck (39, Watertown, SD): Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Place Where Drugs are Kept or Sold, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Kadance Kretzschmar (22, Watertown, SD): Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
  • Nicholas Thiel (23, Watertown, SD): Possession of a Controlled Substance.

 

All four were transported to the Codington County Detention Center, where bond was set at $10,000 cash for Dampier, Beck, and Kretzschmar, and $2,000 cash for Thiel.

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation assisted the Watertown Police Department.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
