Just before 10:00pm on September 21st, WFR responded to the report of a kitchen fire in the 1500 block of 7th Avenue NE. WFR responded with Engine 4, Engine 3, Medic 5, and Battalion 1. Once on scene it was reported that an occupant of the residence had extinguished the flames, but there was still a significant amount of smoke in the house. WFR entered the residence and found that the fire had been successfully extinguished, and that it had been contained to the kitchen area. There was indeed extensive smoke throughout all levels of the home at this time. Positive pressure ventilation was initiated using WFR's electric fans and crews began searching for any possible fire extension into adjacent rooms and the attic area. No extension was noted and once all smoke had been cleared the property was turned back over to home owners. WFR was assisted on scene by WPD. One occupant of the residence was transported to PLH for possible smoke inhalation and heat exposure. WFR was on scene for just short of an hour.
