Just before 8:00 pm on July 26th, WFR responded to a grass fire northeast of Watertown. A large amount of smoke had been reported in the area. Once on scene crews found an estimated two to three acres of grass land burning including a couple of hay bales and a few pieces of farm equipment. Three of Watertown Fire's Brush units were on scene and able to quickly control the fire before it was able to spread to any additional pieces of land. Crews were on scene for about 45 minutes continuing to mop up additional hot spots. The landowner and Codington County Sherriff's Office were on scene during the incident as well.
