On Friday July 14th just after 7:00 AM, Watertown Fire Rescue was requested for mutual aid by the South Shore Volunteer Fire Department for a barn fire. The barn was located just west of the town of Waverly at the intersection of 460th Ave and 164th St. By the time Watertown Fire's Engine 1 arrived on scene South Shore's crews had extinguished the fire that they reported was contained to a four-wheeler, a generator and some plastic bulk storage containers. Minor fire damage had occurred to the structure itself. Watertown Fire crews assisted South Shore in ventilating the structure and searching for any remaining hot spots before returning to station. Engine 1 crews were on scene for about a half an hour. WFR would like to extend a, job well done, to South Shore Fire crews.
