Thursday afternoon at about 4:00pm WFR was called to a structure fire at 1414 9th Ave SE. Upon arrival, crews found active flames and significant smoke.
WFR crews extinguished the fire within a few minutes of their arrival, after exposing some of the interior wall structure from the outside in. The fire was contained to one corner of the building, and most of the fire damage stayed on the exterior of the building.
WFR remained on scene for about 30 minutes overhauling the fire and chasing some smaller hot spots. There were no injuries to report. There was fire damage to the exterior of the building, light smoke damage, and minor water damage to the interior of the structure.
This building contains several local businesses, including Labbie's Sports Bar and Grill, Bruggeman Insurance, and Roseabella Boutique. The fire was found and reported by the building owner. Several ABC extinguishers were used on the fire prior to WFR arrival, after calling 911.
WFR responded with 2 fire engines, an ambulance, and a Battalion Rig. WFR would like to thank the Watertown Police Department as well as Watertown Public Utilities for assisting at the fire scene.
At the time of press release there is no cause of the fire established.
