[ARCHIVED] Mowing Ordinance Reminder

streetdept

The Watertown Street Division would like to remind residents that it is unlawful to deposit leaves or grass into streets/alleys, as per Ordinance 5.0306. Recently there have been issues with localized flooding due to leaves/grass clogging storm drains. This is a major concern as it can flood houses and property, thus, causing damage with costly repairs. Also, this poses a safety hazard for motorcycles, bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, etc.

Any person violating this ordinance could be punished by a fine up to $200 or imprisonment up to 30 days, as per Ordinance 5.9901.

Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Watertown Street Division (605-882-6207) or Code Enforcement (605-882-6210) office.

Thank You,

Rob Beynon

Street Superintendent
