[ARCHIVED] WFR Responds to camper fire

Shortly before 9pm on June 9th, 2025, Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a camper on fire behind Woody's Sports Bar on West Highway 212. The reporting party stated their were visible flames coming out the roof of the camper. On scene WFR found an 1970's 5th wheel camper parked in a storage lot, with visible flames coming from the roof and rear of the camper. The camper was parked approximately 15 feet from a large storage building but at the time of arrival the flames were not impinging on the building. Fire crews had initial knockdown of the fire within 5 minutes of arrival and made a search of the camper for any victims. The search of the camper found no victims. Crews then did overhaul of the camper to ensure there were no hot spots and the fire was out, crews also used thermal imaging cameras to assess the building near the camper fire and found no fire, smoke, or odor in the building. Crews were on scene for approximately 1 hour. WFR was assisted on scene by Watertown Police Department.
