On May 20th, 2021, at approximately 9:51 AM, the Watertown Police Department and Watertown Fire Rescue responded to the Watertown High School (200 9th Street NE) for a vehicle crash.

A 2005 Kia Sorento driven by a 43-year-old female from Watertown, SD, collided with a 2012 Toyota Rav 4 outside the student entrance of the High School.  After hitting the Rav 4 the Sorento collided with the Watertown High School. The building sustained approximately $10,000 in damage to the new construction of the school.  No injuries were reported inside the building.

It was determined the driver had a medical emergency at the time of the collision and was transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital via ambulance. The Sorento sustained approximately $3,000 in damage and was towed away from the scene.  The Toyota sustained roughly $4,000 in damage. 

The vehicle crash is currently under investigation by the Watertown Police Department. No charges have been filed at this time.
