[ARCHIVED] City-Wide Cleanup Returns (April 26–27: Set Items Curbside)

Time to clear the clutter, Watertown! The City-Wide Cleanup is your opportunity to dispose of unwanted bulky items for free—just follow the guidelines below to ensure smooth collection.

 Key Dates
‣ Place items on boulevards: April 26–27 (PLEASE DO NOT SET OUT PRIOR)
‣ Curbside collection begins: Monday, April 28
 Crews will make one pass through each neighborhood. Missed the deadline? Items left behind must be removed by the property owner.

SEPERATE INTO PILES! *******Place metal and non-metal items in separate piles so each can be picked up by the right truck and taken to the proper disposal site.: *******
#1. Metal Pile
‣ Appliances (washers, dryers, as well as freezers and refrigerators - remove doors & empty)
‣ Lawn mowers & snow blowers (drained of fuel/oil)
‣ Bikes, grills, exercise equipment, etc.

#2. Non-Metal Pile
‣ Furniture (couches, chairs, pianos, tables, recliners, and other furniture)
‣ Mattresses & box springs
‣ Rolled & tied carpeting and rugs

 Important Placement Rules
‣ Place all items by Sunday night, April 27 (two pile types listed below)
‣ Keep piles at least 4 feet apart
‣ Items must be clear of parked vehicles, trees, fire hydrants, and fences
‣ Do not lean items on anything
‣ Carpet must be rolled and bound
‣ Fridge/Freezer doors removed/ BE EMPTY OF FOOD

What NOT to Place at the Curb
‣ Tires
‣ Glass (windows, mirrors, storm door inserts, fish tanks) 
‣ Propane tanks (even empty ones)
‣ Wood/lumber/pallets
‣ Concrete, bricks, or demo debris (wood, bricks, drywall, shingles, etc.)
‣ Fiber glass bath tubs
‣ Yard waste 
‣ Electronics (recycled at Landfill)
‣ Trash bags, branches, cardboard, Styrofoam & random junk — use your regular bins, please!
‣ Paint, batteries, oil, chemicals or hazardous waste 
‣  Fridges WITH food in them

 Other Cleanup Opportunities: 
Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off - Saturday, April 26 | 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Watertown Wastewater Treatment Plant: Drop off paints, chemicals, batteries, and more. Residential only.

Self-Haul for Free: Free landfill dumping for Watertown Municipal Utility customers through Saturday, May 3. Must show current utility bill. All loads must be secured. Hours: Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 4 PM.
