On 05/17/2021 at approximately 12:07 pm, the Watertown Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in the 300 block of 3rd Street SE. The suspect threw a rock into a window and gained entry into a residence. The suspect stole a firearm and televisions from the residence.

At approximately 12:36 pm, the Watertown Police Department received a report of a male that had just gained entry into a separate residence in the 300 block 4th Street SE. Officers received information that the suspect was still inside the residence. Officers set up a perimeter, and eventually, the suspect fled from the residence. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody after a short foot pursuit. The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Dylan Brown from Watertown, SD.

A search warrant was executed at Dylan’s residence in the 300 block of 3rd Street SE. The stolen firearm and televisions were found inside Dylan’s residence.  Evidence of marijuana wax distribution was also discovered. Lenny Ames (19 years old) from Watertown, SD, and a juvenile were also located in the residence.

As a result of the investigation, Dylan Brown was arrested for 2nd Degree Burglary, Grand Theft, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Lenny Ames was arrested for Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Other property was recovered during the investigation, believed to have been stolen.  The Watertown Police Department asks citizens to check their property and report any missing items or damage to their property.
