[ARCHIVED] WFR Responds to small field fire

Watertown Fire Rescue was dispatched to a field on fire at about 830pm Saturday evening.  Upon arrival crews found an approximately 10 foot by 20 foot rubbish fire in a fence line between two properties.  The home owner was attempting to burn the corn residue that had blown into the fence throughout the winter.  The fire started to spread into the neighbors field.  WFR crews quickly extinguished the fire without damage to the field, fence or any other property.  Crews were on scene for about 10 minutes.

WFR would like to remind all city residents that it against city ordinance to burn anything except cut wood in a recreational fire pit.  For any questions regarding what can be burned or recreational fires, please contact Watertown Fire Rescue prior to burning.
