Just before 1:30pm on Sunday April, 13, 2025, Watertown Fire Rescue was called out to a grass fire that was caused by a tree pile rekindling due to the high winds. The fire was located near the intersection of 461st Ave and 170th Street, east of Watertown. When crews arrived on scene they found a fire that had burned approximately 1 acre of grass near a burned tree pile. Crews were on scene just under 1 hour. WFR would like to remind the public that high winds can easily move flames and embers into areas with unburned fuel, these fires move quickly across the dry grounds and could cause significant damage to neighboring properties.
