[ARCHIVED] Watertown Fire Rescue responds to vehicle accident and fire

Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle accident with fire at the intersection of US Hwy 212 and 33rd St. west. With the road construction traffic has been re-routed to two way traffic on that section of 212. It appears that the westbound vehicle attempted to turn southbound onto 33rd St and was struck nearly head-on by an eastbound vehicle. The eastbound vehicle was a wrecker that was towing another vehicle. The collision caused the wrecker to start on fire and the towed vehicle to dislodged from the wrecker. Watertown Fire responded with a fire truck and ambulance. Also assisting were Codington County Sherriff's office, SD Highway Patrol. All vehicles are estimated to be total loss. Watertown ambulance transported 1 patient with unknown injuries at time of press release.
