[ARCHIVED] Plowing & Sanding Schedule

Watertown Street Department

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City of Watertown has received more than 2” of snow. Therefore, the Watertown Street Division is currently (Wednesday, March 10th, 2021) plowing & sanding Highways, Emergency Snow Routes, Willow Creek Drive, South Bypass, & Lake Kampeska high traffic roadways.

Tomorrow, Thursday, March 11th, 2021, starting at 5 AM, the Watertown Street Division will re-plow the aforementioned roadways followed by Avenues.

To allow Downtown Businesses ample time to remove accumulated snow from their adjacent sidewalks prior to plowing operations of roadways; the Watertown Street Division will start removing snow from the Downtown Business District at 3 AM, Friday, March 12th, 2021 followed by Streets.

Downtown Business Owners: Please assist the Watertown Street Division by cleaning off your sidewalks before 3 AM.

If additional accumulation/blowing occurs and the Street Superintendent deems it necessary, the Watertown Street Division may alter this plan to re-plow & re-sand high priority roadways such as Highways & Emergency Snow Routes.

The Watertown Police Department has asked that we remind residents of the ticketing process for snow removal. As requested, the information is listed below:

Streets are plowed on: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday

Avenues are plowed on: Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday

Please assist the Watertown Street Division by not parking on the roadways during the time that roadway is scheduled to be plowed. Parking on streets, avenues, or snow routes during the days they are scheduled to be plowed will result in a $40 fine (fine doubles to $80 if not paid in 3 days). There is also a fine for blowing snow into the street from a driveway or sidewalk.

Officers will do same day ticketing of vehicles blocking the snowplows from clearing the City’s streets and avenues. If the obstructing vehicles remain on the street longer than 24 hours after being plowed around, it will be towed at the expense of the owner. The Watertown Street Division & Police Department appreciates the cooperation and understanding of residents in removing cars to provide for effective snow removal on City streets.
