[ARCHIVED] WFR responds to semi vs utility pole accident

Apparatus

Watertown Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to a 1 vehicle accident on the South Bypass across from the shooting range. On arrival crews found a semi truck pulling a drop deck trailer jackknifed in the north ditch and struck a high line electric pole. The pole broke off from the ground and was hanging over the semi, the insulators from the line were still keeping the power pole attached to the power line. The driver remained in the semi until fire crews assisted him safely out of the truck. Watertown Municipal Utilities arrived a short time later to remove the pole from the power lines and safely off the truck. The driver of the semi was evaluated by Watertown Fire Paramedics and refused further medical care. Crews remained on scene to provide traffic control along with Watertown Police Department. A local wrecker company removed the truck from the ditch.
