[ARCHIVED] WFR responds to Semi versus Car at Highway 212 and 81

Watertown Fire Rescue crews were called to a 2 vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 212 and Highway 81 at 1:30pm on 12/18/20. On arrival crews found a car with heavy front end damage and a Semi with damage to the rear axle of the trailer. Paramedics assessed the driver of the car and he was transported with minor injuries. The truck driver was not hurt in the accident. The Ag bottom semi trailer was hauling a full load of fertilizer and was disabled in the accident with a broken front trailer axle. Both vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Crews were on scene for nearly 1 hour cleaning up fluids and debris. Watertown Fire Rescue was assisted on scene by Watertown Police Department, Codington County Sheriffs Office, Watertown Street Department, and 2 towing companies.
