Please join the City of Watertown for an update on the planning of a new downtown plaza – and an opportunity to help inform the design of this important downtown destination. A team of hired design consultants led by Confluence (Landscape Architecture, Planning + Urban Design) will be presenting initial programming ideas and design concepts for the park and are seeking public input on the planned improvements.
The proposed downtown plaza will create a new accessible public outdoor space in the heart of Watertown. This iconic space will enhance the downtown identity and work in conjunction with new redevelopment projects. The design intent of the plaza is to create an outdoor gathering area and community icon that can be used both for special events and day-to-day activities. Proposed improvements may include a turf event lawn, interactive water feature, raised stage and shelter, incorporation of art, signage and wayfinding improvements, as well as landscape and site amenities such as benches, fencing, and lighting improvements. The project is anticipated to be constructed in 2021.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, December 17th, 2020, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm online via Teams and broadcast through Gov TV. The call-in number is 1 605-305-4355 and Phone Conference ID: 214 477 513# The link will be available on the City website and facebook page. There will be a short presentation on the project followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion from the public. For those who are unable to attend, an online survey will be made available for input following the meeting.
