[ARCHIVED] WFR Responds to Structure fire over the weekend

Apparatus

WFR was called to a structure fire with smoke coming from the roof at 187 2nd St NE on 10/10/2020 at 9:12pm. The initial call came from a citizen out walking who flagged a WPD officer down and stated that there was a lot of smoke in the area of 2nd Ave NE. WPD walked the area and found smoke coming from a house.  Upon arrival crews found smoke and fire from through the  roof in a small area. Neighbors stated they believed no one was home at the time. Crews made entry and a search was conducted throughout the home and confirmed no one was in the house. There was no smoke or fire in the main level which confirmed it was an attic fire. Crews quickly tore into the attic and extinguished the fire. Extensive overhaul was conducted to ensure there was no further fire spread. There was no injuries report and crews were on scene for almost 2 hours. The home sustained fire damage and water damage and the cause is under investigation. Assisting at the scene was WFR's Fire Chaplain and WPD with the fire. BC McElhany.
