The City of Watertown was honored with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). This recognition, awarded for Watertown’s annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023, is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
An impartial panel reviewed the report and determined that it met the program’s high standards, including a spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate the city’s financial position and encourage public engagement with the report. This recognition reflects Watertown’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible financial management.
