[ARCHIVED] Watertown Fire Rescue responds to grain bin rescue

Watertown Fire Rescue was called by the Estelline Fire Department on Friday at approximately 1:48 pm to assist in a grain bin rescue.  Watertown Fire Rescue was requested for additional equipment and personnel to assist in the rescue.  Watertown Fire Rescue responded with Rescue 51 and rope equipment, a service truck with a grain tube and Medic 5 for advanced life support assistance.  Prior to arrival several holes had been cut in the side of the grain bin to empty the corn from the bin to locate the patient.  Once on scene Watertown Fire Rescue assisted personnel from the surrounding communities with extricating the patient from the grain bin who had become engulfed in corn.  Watertown Fire Rescue was on scene for approximately 1 hour.  On scene were members from the Estelline Fire Department and Ambulance, Castlewood Fire Department and Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office.  Watertown Fire Rescue would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those members.
