*** UPDATE: On 09/03/2020, at approximately 6:15 am Jeremiah Peacemaker was arrested for 2nd Degree Murder in relation to this incident.  Jeremiah is being held at the Codington County Detention Center with a $1,000,000 cash-only bond.  This incident is still under investigation by the Watertown Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.  *** On 09/02/2020, at approximately 6:15 pm, the Watertown Police Department responded to the 300 block of North Broadway St. for a welfare check.  Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a deceased adult female inside the residence.  The Watertown Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation are on scene conducting the investigation.  It is an active crime scene, and at this moment, foul play is not being ruled out.  We are not releasing the deceased individual’s name at this time pending notification of family.  Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Watertown Police Department at 605-882-6210.
