[ARCHIVED] Watertown Fire Rescue Responds to Rollover on Interstate 29

On Monday June 29th around 10 am Watertown Fire Rescue Responded to a rollover on Interstate 29 at mile marker 187. Upon arrival on scene crews found an older van box truck pulling an enclosed trailer that had the left the roadway and entered the ditch flipping onto its passenger side. Both occupants had self extricated before Watertown Fire Rescue arrived on scene. Both occupants were transported by ambulance to Prairie Lakes Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Watertown Fire Rescue remained on scene for approximately 2 hours while the vehicle and trailer were up righted by Performance Towing. Watertown Fire Rescue was assisted on scene by South Dakota Highway Patrol. Codington County Sheriffs office, Codington County Emergency Management, and Performance Towing. 

Watertown Fire Rescue would like to remind the public when approaching stopped vehicles on a divided highway or an interstate highway to merge to the furthest lane away from the stopped vehicle at least 300 feet before the vehicle and proceed with caution. When driving on a two lane highway, slow down at least 20 mph less then the posted speed limit at least 300 feet before the stopped vehicle and proceed with caution.
