[ARCHIVED] WFR Responds to Early Morning Multiple Vehicle Accident

Switching Station 1-30-25

Shortly after 6:00 am on January 30th, WFR responded to a multiple vehicle accident at the intersection of 2nd St. SW and 8th Ave. SW.  A Ford Bronco with a single passenger had collided with a Buick Regal with two passengers at the intersection of these streets.  After crashing, the Bronco was sent into a high voltage switching station shearing off the box.  None of the passengers required medical attention and firefighters began efforts stabilizing the scene.  Watertown Municipal Utilities were notified and reported to the scene.  Once at the location utilities reported that the box was housing a 7,200 high voltage switching station and one of the elbows had been disconnected in the accident, so it was currently a severe electrical hazard.  Performance Towing removed both vehicles from the scene and Utilities stabilized the switching station.  WFR was also assisted on scene by the Watertown Police Department.
