FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The City of Watertown has received more than 2” of snow and is currently plowing & sanding Highways and Emergency Snow Routes. Listed below is the plowing & sanding schedule for Saturday, January 19th, 2019 and Sunday, January, 20th, 2019.
- Saturday, January 19th, 2019, Starting at 3 AM, the Downtown Business District followed by city avenues will be completed.
- Sunday, January 20th, 2019, Starting at 7 AM, the city streets will be completed.
Downtown Business Owners: Please assist the Watertown Street Department by cleaning off your sidewalks before 3 AM, Saturday, January 19th, 2019.
The Watertown Police Department is asking that residents be reminded of the ticketing process for snow removal. As requested, the information is listed below:
Streets are plowed on: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday
Avenues are plowed on: Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday
Please assist the Watertown Street Department by not parking on the roadways during the time that roadway is scheduled to be plowed. Parking on streets, avenues, or snow routes during the days they are scheduled to be plowed will result in a $40 fine (fine doubles to $80 if not paid in 3 days). There is also a fine for blowing snow into the street from a driveway or sidewalk.
Officers will do same day ticketing of vehicles blocking the snow plows from clearing the City’s streets and avenues. If the obstructing vehicles remain on the street longer than 24 hours after being plowed around, it will be towed at the expense of the owner.
The Watertown Street & Police Department appreciates the cooperation and understanding of residents in removing cars to provide for effective snow removal on City streets.
