During the afternoon of December 13, 2018, the Watertown Police Department has received numerous reports of a bomb threat extortion email. 

This threat has been reported in numerous states. Here in Watertown, the emails have been received by businesses, governmental agencies, and nonprofit organizations. It has been documented that schools, media outlets and other venues have also been targeted throughout the country. As of this time, there are no known reports of devices being located.

Common indicators include a threat to detonate a device unless a set payment is made to a Bitcoin address. As of this time there are no known reports of devices being located.
