On 10/13/2018 at approximately 6:39pm law enforcement officers with the Watertown Police Department, Codington County Sheriff’s Office, and South Dakota Highway Patrol responded to the 1900 block of Fish Rd. for a reported kidnapping.
A 16-year-old female called 911 and said she was being kidnapped. The male suspect, Scott Schamens, also called 911 and said he was being set up by the juvenile female and several other individuals. Schamens drove to the Watertown Police Department with the juvenile female in his vehicle and was followed by several other individuals. Upon arrival at the police department, a brief physical altercation took place. All parties were separated and detained.
Through the investigation, the following individuals were arrested on the following charges.
Scott Schamens was arrested and charged with Solicitation of a Minor, Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, and False Imprisonment. His bond was set at PR Bond/no contact with victim or victim’s family.
Trey Petrich was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Robbery 2nd Degree. His bond was set at $10,000.00 cash or surety/no contact with victim. He was also placed on a probation hold.
Jase Paladeni was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Robbery 2nd Degree, and Simple Assault. His bond was set at $10,000.00 cash or surety/no contact with victim.
The 16-year-old female was arrested and charged with Prostitution, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and Robbery 2nd Degree. She was released to her parent.
This investigation is ongoing and charges are pending against several other individuals involved in this incident.
