Watertown Fire Rescue was dispatched to a dumpster fire near 151 4th St NE on Friday 8/30/24 at about 3:10 pm. Several callers reported seeing smoke coming from the area. Upon arrival, WFR personnel found a small fire in the middle of an outside storage lot, mostly contained to a dumpster. Crews gained access to the property with help of the property owner, and extinguished the fire. Crews were on scene for about 45 minutes. WFR responded with 2 engines, 1 ambulance, and a Battalion rig. There were no injuries reported. WFR would like to thank the WPD for their assistance. Also, as a reminder, there is no open burning allowed within city limits. Only recreational fires comprised of cut trees, charcoal, or commercial fire logs are permitted in town, and they must be contained inside an earthen pit with sidewalls, fireplace, or other device which is capable of containing the fire. These fires must be attended from start to finish, with an adequate way to extinguish the fire nearby. Thanks for your cooperation!
