WFR was called to another structure on fire at 600 1/2 S Maple St just after 330 pm on Mar 19, 2018. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke coming from the roof and roof vents. Crews quickly attacked the interior fire and extinguished the fire before it could move into the adjacent apartment in the other half of the structure. The interior received heavy fire damage and unfortunately a dog that was in the apartment was found deceased. The other apartment had no fire but received smoke damage and a cat was rescue from that apartment. Crews were on scene a little over one hour. No one was home in either apartment and no other injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
