On 3/14/2018 at about 1100 AM, after an ongoing investigation into the alleged manufacturing of methamphetamine, the Watertown Police Department Detective Division and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation executed a search warrant at 1303 10th Ave SW in Watertown, SD.During the search, evidence of the manufacturing of methamphetamine was discovered.Two adults and two children were residing in the home. As a result of the investigation 42 year John Everett West III was arrested and charged with the following crimes: Manufacture Controlled Drug, Child Abuse, Possession of Controlled Substance, Maintaining a place where Controlled Drug, kept, sold or used, Ingesting a Controlled Drug and Possession of Marijuana 2 oz or less.West is currently being detained at the Codington County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash only bond. This is West’s second arrest for manufacturing a controlled substance since 2013. He was subsequently convicted of that charge in early 2014.The children living in the home were provided with a care and treatment plan through the REACH Team.The Watertown Police Department would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance in this matter: The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, Watertown Fire Rescue, REACH Team and Prairie Lakes Hospital.
