The Watertown Police Department announces the graduations of two new officers from the South Dakota Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pierre. Officer Jamon Harberts and Officer Scott Price both recently graduated the end of February.
At the conclusion of his training, Officer Scott Price was the recipient of the prestigious Coler-Williams Award which was presented at the Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pierre.
Officer Price, who joined the agency in April of last year, is from the Britton, South Dakota area. He and his wife, Ashley, now reside in Watertown.
The Coler-Williams Award is dedicated by the South Dakota Peace Officers’ Association in memory of Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agents Jack Coler and Ron Williams. Agents Coler and Williams were ambushed and murdered near Oglala, South Dakota on June, 25, 1975.
The following year, 1976, the memorial award was established in hopes it would instill initiative for the pursuit of professionalism among officers attending the academy.
The recipient of this award has distinguished themselves through high academic achievement, leadership qualities and the desire to be an outstanding officer in the South Dakota Law Enforcement Basic Certification Course.
