[ARCHIVED] Part-Time Library Assistant Wanted

Watertown Regional Library is looking for a part-time Library Assistant. Library Assistants perform customer service duties relating to the circulation of library materials and assist in the daily operation of the library. Duties include: working at the circulation desk (check-in, check-out, registering new borrowers, shelving books, etc.); assisting patrons in locating library materials and in the use of all library services.

Minimum qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent experience, ability to work independently as well as effectively with children and adults, attention to accuracy and detail, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to learn other computer operations, and a friendly, helpful demeanor.

Preferred qualifications: Bachelors degree, knowledge of books and basic reference resources, the Dewey Decimal System, and experience with computer applications and mobile devices used for ereading.

Required to meet flexible schedule demands, including evenings and weekends. The typical work week for this position will be up to 16 hours per week but may occasionally increase to up to 20 hours to cover vacations and other staffing needs. Starting rate: $8.00 per hour with no benefits. This is a position that requires some physical labor.
