Watertown Fire Rescue's Medic 2 and Engine 3 responded to a  2 vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 81 and 1st Ave NE on 12/11/2017 at 4:00 pm. On arrival crews assessed 1 patient who was treated at the scene but not transported by ambulance. A large fluid spill and debris blocked the intersection for around 30 mins and traffic was diverted to east and west onto 1st Ave NE. Fire crews were assisted by Watertown Street Department in cleaning up the fluid and debris. After the debris and car were removed traffic was open again on Highway 81. Watertown Fire Rescue was assisted by Watertown Police Department, Codington County Sheriff's Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Watertown Street Department, and a local wrecker company.
