[ARCHIVED] Possible Phishing Scam

The Watertown Police Department took a report of a suspicious phone call received on
2/24/2014.

The Watertown Police Department took a report of a suspicious phone call received on 2/24/2014. The caller ID appeared to be “Prairie Lakes Hospital” and gave 605-753-5120 as calling phone number. When answered, it was an automated recording asking for personal account information to pay an outstanding bill. No information was given and the call was ended.

Prairie Lakes Healthcare System verified that this is a scam and that Prairie Lakes does not use
automated recordings to conduct business.

An easy way to verify if the caller is who they say they are is to ask for a phone number and call them back. A legitimate company will be happy to provide you with any information to verify their identity.
