[ARCHIVED] WFR Responds to a Structure Fire

Engine 1, Engine 2 and Tender 1 responded to a barn fire at 10:13 p.m. on September 18th at 222 54th St SW.

Upon arrival crews found a milking barn with smoke coming out of it. Crews used a pressurized water extinguisher to extinguish the smoldering fire. The owner had been doing some renovations in the barn and used a gas powered rotary saw to cut some steel pipes from the structure. Heat from the saw ignited some boards used as a small pen in the barn.

The owner had the majority of the flames extinguished prior to WFR arrival. WFR crews removed the boards and checked the structure for extention of fire into the loft. Damage was minimal to the contents of the structure.
