[ARCHIVED] WFR Responds to a Single Vehicle Accident

Rescue 51 and Medic 3 responded to a single vehicle versus a deer accident.

at 04:33 a.m. near the Waverly exit (mile marker 185) on I-29. The driver appeared to be south bound on I-29 and struck the deer causing him to slide to a stop in the median. There was heavy front end damage to the car. The single occupant of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries during the incident. Debris was removed from the roadway.

WFR crews were assisted by Codington County Sherrif's Deputies, WPD officers, and a local wrecker service.

As fall harvest continues and cold tempuratures return, WFR would like to remind everyone that deer will begin moving around more. Please drive with caution in the rural areas.
