[ARCHIVED] Watertown Fire Rescue respond to natural gas line leak.

Watertown Fire Rescue responded to Kranzburg on 22 Aug 2016 at 11:16am for a natural gas line that had been struck by a company digging in new water lines. The company had utilized the SD One-Call but the flags had been moved and the paint had faded due to recent rains. The gas line was immediatley clamped off and there was no danger to the residents. WFR monitored the scene until crews from Northwestern Energy arrived on scene. Codington County Emergency Management was also on scene.
Watertown Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone; do not move or disturb marker flags placed by utility companies. With all of the construction in town and around the county there are many areas that may be marked. Prior to any excavation projects utilize the SD One-call "811" to ensure there are no utilities in the dig zone.
