The Watertown Police Department has taken multiple reports of citizens receiving threats via
phone.

The caller identifies themselves as being part of a terroristic organization and demands money.
They use obscene language and threats of violence in the attempt to coerce money. The
incoming number has an “876” area code. It appears they are calling random 605-520-XXXX
phone numbers.

The threats being made are not credible. This scam is becoming more common throughout the
region. Please disconnect the call and contact your local law enforcement.
