Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a car fire at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday evening.
WFR units responded to a car fire near 17th Ave SW of Watertown. Upon arrival crews found a car that was heavyily involved in fire in the trunk and rear passenger seat area.
Crews quickly extinguished the car and prevented the fire from spreading into trailers and buildings that where in the area. The owner of the car had just started the car to move it to a different location and it appears to have started the long grass under the car on fire, which quickly spread to the car. The car was a total loss in the fire.
With the continued dry conditions in the area, Watertown Fire Rescue reminds everyone to be careful with fires and driving in long grass with vehicles.
WFR would like to also remind everyone to be safe with fireworks this weekend. Please have a safe and Happy 4th of July.
