On May 25th, 2016, Watertown Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of 5th St SE. The Officer deployed his Narcotic Detection Dog. The k9 indicated to the odor of illegal narcotics on the stopped vehicle.

A search was conducted of the vehicle and the persons inside. Mr. Zachary Lenards was discovered to be in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. Lenards was arrested and transported to the Codington County Detention Center.

Lenards was arrested for possession and ingestion of a controlled substance. Both charges are Class 5 felonies which carry a maximum penalty of 5 years in the state penitentiary and/or a $10,000 fine.
