[ARCHIVED] Commercial Burglary UPDATE

On May 17, 2016, Watertown Police responded to a report of a burglary at Lester’s Gun & Pawn, 1902 5th St SE, Watertown, SD.

During the early morning hours, the suspect forced entry into the business by breaking a window. While inside, the suspect was confronted by two dogs. During the encounter, the suspect punched the dogs as they approached him. The suspect fled the scene empty handed.

The suspect is described as a slender build male wearing dark clothing, book bag, and a flat brimmed baseball cap.

If you have any information about the burglary, please contact the Watertown Police Department at 605-882-6210. You can remain anonymous. A reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.

UPDATE:
On May 18th 2016, the Watertown Police Department received information from the public which helped in identifying 20 year old Mr. Christopher Bain as a suspect in this case. After further investigation, Christopher was arrested and booked into the Codington County Detention Center for 3rd Degree Burglary and Intentional Damage to Property ($400 or less.

3rd Degree Burglary is a Class 5 Felony which carries a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.

Intentional Damage to Property ($400 or less) is a Class 2 Misdemeanor which carries a maximum penalty of 30 days in county jail and/or a $500 fine.
