WFR responded with 2 brush trucks and 1 fire engine to a brush fire at 741 Stony Point Drive. Reports came in that a brush fire was starting to encroach on a house. Upon arrival firefighters found a brush fire working its way up the hill towards a house. Firefighers spent just over 1 hour dousing the flames and clearing the area of any further fire hazards. WFR personnel did find a pile of discarded cigarettes near the origin of the fire. Once again Watertown Fire Rescue would like to remind people that improperly discarded cigarettes are one of the major causes of wildland fires. Do not throw lit cigarettes out your window or into grassy areas. Please keep cigarettes in a metal can with sand and prior to proper disposal take the time to wet all the contents down.
