[ARCHIVED] Watertown's New Early Warning System

Early warning system

Watertown Fire Rescue would like to inform the citizens that the City of Watertown recently replaced all the early warning sirens. The Federal Signal 2001 Series siren is a high power, rotating, uni-directional outdoor warning siren.

The high-decibel output provides maximum coverage. The new Federal Signal system has 3 distinct warning signals: steady, wail, and wail fast. The new system will not have a pre-warning voice like the old system had.

With summer approaching the City of Watertown will be testing sirens every Friday at noon, unless there is inclement weather in the area.

If for some reason a siren in your area is not working or rotating properly please contact Watertown Fire Rescue at 605-882-5030 and report your concern. Included is a link to the wail sound you can expect to hear from Watertown’s new warning system.
