[ARCHIVED] WFR Responds to fire at Miller Electric Mfg-Smith Equipment

WFR responded to 2601 Lockheed Ave, on May 12th, 2024 just after 7:45 am, for smoke inside the building. On arrival an employee for the company was coming into work when he found the entire facility was full of smoke. WFR responded with 2 Fire Engines, 1 Command vehicle and 1 Ambulance. The nearly 100,000 square foot facility was full of smoke. Crews searched the building for the source of the smoke and found that the main electrical cabinet inside the building had been on fire, the fire was contained to the electrical cabinet, inside the mechanical room. Crews waited for power to be shut off to the building before extinguishing the smoldering fire. Crews spent the remainder of their time on scene clearing the building of smoke. The fire caused extensive damage to the electrical system of Miller Electric Mfg-Smith Equipment. WFR was on scene for approximately 2 hours. Fire crews were assisted by Watertown Police Department and Watertown Municipal Utilities.
