[ARCHIVED] WFR Responds to grass fire

WFR units responded to the area of 169th St and 443 Ave for a control burn that got out of control when wind conditions changed Monday afternoon. Watertown Fire Rescue responded with two wildland brush trucks and a water tender. Crews quickly extinguished the fire with the assistance of a skidloader from a neighbor. Crews were on scene for about one hour mopping up hot spots.
As temperatures warm WFR would like to remind everyone to use caution when conducting controlled burns. Please check weather forecasts prior to lighting fires. Also please call all control burns into Watertown Police Department prior to lighting, to eliminate false reports. The non-emergent number is 605-882-6210
