As of October 15th, any home or business that needs to continue operating a sump pump discharging clear water may request a variance to discharge to the sanitary sewer. The temporary variance is from October 15th to April 15th. Applications for a written variance may be made via the City’s website at http://watertownsd.us/variance http://watertownsd.us/variance. Applicants without internet access may apply for a variance by calling the Wastewater Treatment Facility at 882-6244.

Any home or business that wishes to route the discharge of their sump pump into the sanitary sewer must apply for an individual written variance prior to discharging to the sanitary sewer. Discharges of clear water to the sanitary sewer without obtaining a written variance is not permissible.
